Jed York has been absent from 49ers games since his arrest. I think that's deliberate — and here's why.

Jed York, the owner of the San Francisco 49ers, was arrested in Ohio in late August in an undercover prostitution sting and pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges. The legal matter was resolved quickly. The NFL matter is not.

York has been absent from 49ers games — he wasn't in Australia for the opener and he wasn't at yesterday's home game. The NFL said it's "aware of the matter which will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy." The 49ers said they won't be commenting further. And Goodell hasn't moved yet.

I think I know why — and I think I know what happens next.

This is commissioner power territory. We've seen how Goodell handles players. We haven't seen much when it comes to owners. Robert Kraft wasn't disciplined. This one is different. And the players are watching very closely.
