Green Bay and Appleton folks — I'll be there in two weeks. Three book talks and signings. Come find me.

Big week. The Senate passed the Protect College Sports Act 77-22 — the first college sports bill to ever make it this far. I'll explain what's actually in it and why the loudest critics are rarely the ones on the ground doing this work.

Manchester City was found guilty of 114 of 115 financial charges by an independent Premier League commission — "sham" sponsorship deals, inflated revenues, nearly a decade of systematic rule-breaking. If that sounds familiar, it should. I covered the Clippers' cap circumvention case a few weeks ago. The mechanism was identical. And now Man City has already filed an appeal.

Tony Romo is out at CBS. "Mutually agreed" is a phrase that means lawyers were involved — on the front end, not the back. I'll tell you what I think really happened and what CBS paid to make it go away.

And two NFL trades this week that both, at their core, came down to the same thing: negotiations that got personal. Joey Porter Jr. to the Cowboys. JJ McCarthy to the Giants. The money was part of it. It was never just the money.

This week's Sunday 7:

  1. The PCSA — what passed, what's next, and why the critics are missing the point

  2. Manchester City — the biggest verdict in Premier League history, and why it looks familiar

  3. Tony Romo out at CBS — what "mutual agreement" actually means

  4. Joey Porter Jr. and the Steelers — when negotiations get personal

  5. JJ McCarthy to the Giants — buying high, selling low

  6. Tweet of the Week

  7. Quote of the Week
