But today I want to talk about something I've been watching build for 15 years.
Yesterday the Senate voted 74-24 to invoke cloture on the Protect College Sports Act — clearing the 60-vote threshold needed to stop a filibuster and moving it one step closer to a full Senate vote expected next week. No college sports bill has ever come this close.
I'm going to break down exactly what's in it: the limited antitrust exemption that would finally slow the litigation avalanche, the one-time transfer rule, the agent fee cap at 5%, the media rights pooling provision, and the conference size limits. And I'll tell you what I actually think — because my view is that for 95% of college student-athletes, this bill does more good than harm. The criticism is coming from a loud minority.
